Starkare tillsammans.
As the costs of living rise, many Swedes find themselves unable to pay their commuting fees. PLANKA! is a radical campaign encouraging citizens to hop the turnstile, in an act of civil disobedience to protest the continuous price hiking by SL (Stockholm Public Transit Company).
To planka - in Swedish, means to commit fare evasion.
The campaign evokes the emotion of the commuters by informing them that there are millionaires making money off their tickets. Do you really want to fill their pockets?
Inspired by the notion of taking up, and carving out space so you can get your needs met, the logo for PLANKA! was sculpted out of square blocks.
It was important that the typeface used was legible and familiar. The campaign disguised itself as a regular advertising campaign, to appeal to everyone.
1 - "I earned 10 million on public transportation last year. If you hop the turnstile I can not afford a new villa in Southern Italy." 2 - "Private comapnies are allowed to make profit off public transportation. Do you really want to fill their pockets?" 5 - "To hop the turnstile is easy, but it is even easier when we organize and fight together."
"Did you know that a scarf can help you fare-skip?" "Order one for free and try for yourself"
In addition to the visual campaigns. PLANKA! allows you to install a bug to you SL-app that reminds you of the fact that your money is used to fill the pockets of millionaires. In the pop-uo notification, you get the opportunity to Planka (hop the turnstile), which exits you from the app, or to "Feed the millionaires" - and continue to payment.
